#Bigdata#Bandwidth#FullBrainSimulation

The bandwidth problem with brain simulation/streaming brain.
With current technology you can not simulate a brain for every person or stream a brain to be uploaded very fast. Or you may need to capture strings of information and not every neuron or even further reduction and you still have problems with bandwidth for 7 billion people, let alone half or less. From wireless to fiber optic cable. The bandwidth is just not there for that many people to use all the time. Not to get into the offset from ping or any mismatch in sync to brain or such parallel avenues/routs to take. Even full brain emulation will chew into processor power and data over bandwidth, though can be centralized.

100 Trillion Connections: New Efforts Probe and Map the Brain’s Detailed Architecture
Optogenetics (from Greek optikós, meaning “seen, visible”) uses light to control neurons which have been genetically sensitised to light.
Untitled-13
100,000,000,000,000 Connections in the brain before trying to cut it down. Multiply that with 7,000,000,000 or around that for world population. That’s 100 trillion times 7 billion for base population. Then if you add processors for simulation of that amount. Then you end up multiplying more 83,000 or so for simulating 1 second of brain activity at around 45 min. render time for that 1 second. And I should stress that is if you go by the report. Now lets say you have a million new cores to burn. Ether or both CPU/GPU types and have then all streamlined to work together. Then you look at internet pipeline and fiber optic. Wireless will be to crowded with other stuff most likely. That’s a ton of bandwidth for every person in the world and some type of streaming function online.

7e+23 That’s neuron confections for a world population of 7 billion and about 100,000,000,000,000,000 neuron connections per brain. If it took 83,000 cores 40+ minutes to simulate 1 second of brain activity. Then for a simplification of distributed computing. Lets say it takes 1 million cores to simulate 1 second to one second of time frame. Now you have 7 billion people on 1 million cores apiece . That’s still a lot of cores 7e+15 cores to give a idea of how big. The fastest wireless is 100Gbps, or a transfer rate of 12.5 gigabytes per second. The fastest fiber is speed record for a fiber network, pushing 255 terabits per second down a single strand of glass fiber.

Now for the kicker part. Bandwidth for full brain streaming for everyone is not possible. Even with the technology now they are having problems with bandwidth. From wireless to fiber optic, the bandwidth is being used up. Even if they strip down or refine some brain capture or streaming system. They will still be looking at a bandwidth problem. neuron
So to sum up a tiny bit. Streaming brain simulation or brain backup to simulation has a low probability with the bandwidth that would be needed. Just streaming task oriented and such seems more likely. If you where to stream a full brain record. You would still be limited by data plans and pipeline needed and processing power needed. Think of a Manhattan like brain project. Or for a different parallel the CERN for the brain. To try to take one complete snapshot of the brain and spread it out over a server cluster for processing close to real time. A high speed and short time framed snapshot with high resolution mapping of the brain. That then gets streamed out and sliced up for exact mapping to content. Even if you had a high end fMRI, the bandwidth needed to stream or interlink would be a lot. This is not even getting into the A.I. part and what will it need to exist in certain states.

If you where to be able to connect your brain into the internet. What would you do or look for after virtual spaces and virtual worlds? If you learned to feel the internet in ways. How would you feel it? Would you be able to feel every packet or every byte? Or would you just be after some larger picture of the whole? And what would that packet feel like?

Last bit for this post. Ray speculates that micro machines will float in you. Though they seem to get some right part that gets me is the brain streamed in any decent form and the bandwidth that would be needed. That and if you get swarms of nanobots floating in the blood stream. The ability to keep track of them and communicate with each nanobot and stream information with out boiling the blood. They will run into problems it seems. One is bandwidth. The other is heat dissipation of the nanobot in the blood stream. You can only put so much processing power into a nanobot and it will need a tiny bit of RAM also and the communication antenna. Though one may not be to bad, millions and billions may heat the blood stream of target spot up to much. One thing to look out for in the future.
